Find A Quality Early Learning Program
Finding the right early learning program can be an overwhelming process. We are here to make it as easy as 1, 2, 3. Just follow these steps to get started:
Decide on a settingThink about what kind of early learning setting you would like for your child. Are you looking for a certain philosophy such as Montessori or Reggio? Is connection to your faith important in an early learning experience? Do you want a program built around parent participation, such as a co-op, mommy and me, or Learning Link program? Would your child thrive best in a center or in a home environment? Click here to learn more about the difference between licensed family child care homes and center-based programs.
Identify early learning programs in your area. There are a couple of ways we suggest you find programs near you:
Call Children's Home Society at (714) 456-9800. They can describe the types of programs available and give you a list of local providers. QualityStart OC QRIS gives participating programs a “star rating” between 1 and 5, with 5 being the highest quality. Click here to search for QRIS rated programs near you, and view their QRIS rating Report. Click here to learn more about QualityStart OC QRIS.
Check them out.Call to find out if your top choices have openings and schedule a visit or tour. Use a list of questions (like
this one) that will help you remember what to look for, then use a checklist (like
this one) to ensure you have considered everything. We suggest you make the first visit alone and then, once you narrow down your choices or choose a provider, bring your child in for a visit.
